Qualifications

  • Matric or N2 / N3 Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 35 years in vehicle and heavy plant maintenance preferred.
  • Previous experience with government/municipal fleet is advantageous.

Job description

Vehicle & Yellow Plant Maintenance - Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on company and municipal vehicles and machinery to ensure operational reliability.

Diagnostics & Mechanical Repairs - Identify and fix faults in engines and systems using diagnostic tools, performing repairs both in the workshop and on-site.

Fleet Compliance & Documentation - Maintain service records and ensure all vehicles meet legal and municipal compliance standards.

Emergency Response & Field Support - Respond to breakdowns and perform mobile repairs to keep fleet vehicles ready for deployment.

Workshop & Inventory Management - Manage tools, parts, and equipment to maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked workshop.

Municipal Client & SLA Support - Provide maintenance and reporting services to municipal fleets in line with SLA requirements and performance standards.

Matric or N2 / N3 Mechanical Engineering.

Valid Driver's License (Code 10 or above).

35 years in vehicle and heavy plant maintenance.

Previous work with government / municipal fleet advantageous.

Willingness to travel across sites and respond to field repairs.

Ability to work flexible hours or weekends (event / municipal deadlines).

Diesel & petrol engine diagnostics and mechanical repair.

Yellow plant equipment servicing & hydraulics knowledge.

Brake, clutch, suspension, and auto-electrical systems.

Strong technical problem-solving and independence.

Communication and reporting for client-facing support.

Understanding of safety and regulatory fleet standards (municipal & commercial).
