Job summary

Old Mutual Limited in Johannesburg seeks a seasoned DevSecOps Engineer to integrate security into the software delivery lifecycle. You will mentor teams and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen security posture across AWS/Azure, CI/CD, IaC, and container environments.

The role requires leadership in security automation, vulnerability management, and incident response, with strong scripting abilities in Python or Bash and experience in cloud monitoring and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience across DevOps, cloud engineering, cybersecurity or platform security.
• Proven experience leading DevSecOps initiatives and embedding security into enterprise delivery pipelines.
• Strong practical experience securing AWS and Azure cloud environments.
• Advanced understanding of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, container security and automated vulnerability management.
• Expert scripting and automation capabilities using Python and/or Bash.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, encryption, secrets management, secure configurations and security incident response.

Responsibilities

• Security Automation Leadership: Lead the development and optimization of security automation scripts and tools within CI/CD pipelines.
• Vulnerability Management and Remediation: Oversee vulnerability scanning and assessment processes with swift remediation.
• Security Monitoring: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive security monitoring solutions.
• Incident Response: Drive incident response efforts and analyze security events for improvement.
• IaC Security: Enforce security best practices in infrastructure as code scripts and provisioning.
• Secure Configuration Management: Set and monitor secure baselines in collaboration with operations teams.
• Security Governance and Compliance: Lead governance policies and compliance standards.
• Collaboration and Mentorship: Guide cross-functional teams and coach junior DevSecOps engineers.
