Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to manage and enhance cloud infrastructure, supporting a variety of projects from Richards Bay. This remote-first role emphasizes collaboration across distributed teams, automating operations, and building deployment, monitoring, and tooling to improve reliability.

You will work with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/Ansible, Prometheus, Grafana, and CI/CD with Jenkins or GitLab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in a DevOps or SRE role with cloud experience.
• Proficiency with scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

About the Role

This position, based out of Richards Bay , emphasizes a remote-first approach, allowing seamless collaboration across distributed teams. You will be responsible for automating and streamlining our operations and processes, building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations, and troubleshooting and resolving issues in our development, test, and production environments. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize application deployments and ensure smooth transitions between environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role, with a strong understanding of cloud platforms.
• Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
