Job summary

PBT Group is hiring a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join our Cape Town team on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on building robust CI/CD pipelines, managing AWS resources with IaC tools, and deploying using Docker and Kubernetes.

You will implement monitoring, security practices and drive automation to improve reliability and efficiency across development and operations. The successful candidate will have strong AWS experience, IaC expertise with Terraform/AWS CloudFormation, and a track record in

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience is essential.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging and alerting, preferably AWS CloudWatch.
• Good understanding of DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience working across Development, Infrastructure and Operations teams.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply DevSecOps principles throughout the development and deployment lifecycle, including access controls and vulnerability management.
• Work closely with Software Development, Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure smooth and reliable software delivery.
• Contribute to technical solution design and application architecture where required.
• Support continuous improvement of development, deployment and operational processes.

This role forms part of a technology team responsible for the development, management and support of key applications. The successful candidate will have strong AWS experience, together with solid expertise in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containerisation and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, manage and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.
• Provision, manage and scale AWS cloud resources, using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
