Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Analysis of electronic devices such as laptops, cellphones, and hard drives.
2. Social media analysis.
3. Translation of audio and written communication from recognized South African languages into English, related to cases or as instructed.
4. Build intelligence profiles on targets (e.g., repeat offenders) identified through device analysis.
5. Manage and maintain profiles in the central database repository.
6. Process, analyze, and capture POI (Persons of Interest) from internal sources (e.g., WhatsApp groups) and device analysis.
7. Cross-reference traceable information like registrations and biographical data with the central database.
8. Present target profiles and case briefs to the Target Desk Head, law enforcement, and management as needed.
9. Write reports on each case, including analysis findings, targets identified, and recommendations.
10. Process, analyze, and capture POI from OSINT sources such as WhatsApp groups, social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok), and internal sources (online info, SAPS reports, Ibase reports).
11. Link profiles and delegate further collection on POIs.
12. Engage with Regional Analysts to understand suspects/syndicates operations and follow up on leads.

Other Analytical Functions

• Follow up on traceable leads and delegate tasks.
• Map data and analyze it.
• Present intelligence briefs to relevant stakeholders.
• Utilize analytics software and forensic instruments for target analysis.
• Stay updated on trends via web, audio, visual, and electronic mediums.
• Manage LPR loading/removing (Proof & Metamon).
• Monitor platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal for relevant information and capture data.
• Capture data into the central repository (Ibase).
• Draft statements and appear in court as a witness if required.
• Attend training courses as needed.
• Extract and analyze electronic devices using forensic software.
• Communicate with clients, victims, SAPS, and stakeholders as necessary.
• Participate in field operations and data collection.
• Perform delegated analytics tasks and participate in special projects.

Educational and Skill Requirements

• Proficiency in Excel.
• Basic interpersonal communication skills (BICS) in one or more recognized South African languages plus English.
• Proficiency in computer software.
• Strategic and analytical thinking.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Matric certification is mandatory.
• An undergraduate degree is advantageous.
• Own transport is an advantage.
• PSIRA certification is required.
