Job summary

Red Panda Software in Cape Town is seeking a Development Project Manager to lead a software development team using Scrum/Agile methods. You will drive delivery, manage client expectations, and oversee team performance across sprints and releases.

Responsibilities include reporting to clients, maintaining capacity plans, and ensuring high-quality deployments while guiding the team through SAFe practices and proactive stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Matric is required.
• A minimum of 3 years experience leading a team in a software development environment.
• IT related qualification.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum is required.
• Retail experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Delivery on time and in scope with backlog grooming, sprint planning, estimates and Burn down reports.
• Maintain 70% efficiency of Raw Capacity per sprint.
• Ensure UAT failures are below 5% per deployment.
• Provide progress reports and status updates in weekly Operations meetings.
• Manage client expectations and respond to escalations.
• Set individual goals and conduct performance evaluations.
• Monitor productivity and time logging.

Job description

Purpose of the job

The main function of the Development Project Manager (DPM) is to lead a Software Development team, managing performance, behaviour, productivity, and team delivery by applying the Scrum/ Agile methodology. In this client facing role, the DPM provides feedback, updates, and reports to internal and external clients on the status of projects.

Key Resonsibilities

1.Delivery Management

• Deliver on time and in scope (Backlog grooming, sprint planning, estimates and Burn down reports)
• Ensure teams are delivering on the capacity plan at 70% efficiency of Raw Capacity for each sprint
• Delivering quality by ensuring UAT failures are less than 5% for each UAT deployment

2.Client and Stakeholders Management

• Provide progress reports and present the status of team(s) deliverables (Sprint Burn Down Reports) in weekly Operations meetings
• Manage client expectations, respond to client escalations and provide regular updates to clients as per the agreed timeframes

3.Team Management

• Performance Management (set individual employee goals and conduct performance evaluations)
• Manage productivity and monitor time logging
