This role is based in our Cape Town or Johannesburg office.

Overview

As a Design System Engineer specializing in UX and Design Systems, you will play a key role in creating intuitive user interfaces and maintaining a cohesive design system for our digital products.

You will collaborate closely with designers and developers to ensure our applications deliver a seamless and delightful user experience.

This role combines front-end development expertise with a focus on user experience and design systems, essential for delivering high-quality, consistent, and user-friendly digital products.

Responsibilities
  1. Design System Development: Develop and maintain a robust design system with reusable components, patterns, and guidelines. Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure consistent implementation. Document components and guidelines for internal use.
  2. Front-End Development: Optimize code for performance and scalability.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with designers, UX researchers, and developers to align on requirements. Communicate effectively across teams. Provide feedback and contribute to discussions.
  4. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements. Share knowledge to foster growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with design tools like Figma.
  • Familiarity with version control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with design system tools such as Storybook, Zeroheight, Figma.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards.
  • Experience with front-end performance optimization.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
