Job Summary: GIBB requires Professional Design Engineers responsible for designing and developing construction projects, such as buildings, civil and electrical infrastructure, bridges, and other structures.

They will work closely with architects, project managers, and contractors to ensure that construction projects are designed according to specifications and meet safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Developing construction project specifications and designs based on customer requirements and design standards.
  2. Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other construction professionals to ensure that designs are feasible and meet project requirements.
  3. Using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create and refine construction project designs, including creating 3D models and animations using CAD and BIM software.
  4. Conducting feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to determine the viability of new designs and construction techniques.
  5. Developing and maintaining project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports.
  6. Ensuring that construction projects meet regulatory requirements and adhere to safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
  7. Collaborating with project managers and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  8. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, and making recommendations to senior management.
  9. Conducting regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to team members.
  10. Ensuring all project stakeholders are informed of project progress and changes.
Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience: Degree or BTech (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical). Must provide certificates with transcripts. Experience within the built environment. Matric. Must provide certificates with results. Registered with ECSA / SACPQSP as a Professional. Must provide registration certificate with number. 5–10 years of design experience (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical).

Core Competencies / Requirements: Strong technical background in engineering, excellent design and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools, effective communication, stakeholder management, and risk management. Knowledge of construction processes and standards, project management experience. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency in industry-specific software including ACAD, Civil 3D, and Revit. MS Office skills. Ability to work independently and lead/support staff.
