Job summary

A leading engineering firm is looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to create electrical systems for automated production and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate should have a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics and 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation design. You will be responsible for designing control panels, integrating various systems, and ensuring compliance with standards. Electrical Design Engineer – (Industrial Automation)

Location: Netherlands, On-site (with relocation support)

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Automation to design and develop electrical systems for automated production and manufacturing environments. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team working on exciting automation projects across industries such as manufacturing, food & beverage, logistics, and energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for automated production lines and machinery
• Develop detailed electrical schematics and panel layouts
• Design control panels, power distribution systems, and MCCs
• Select electrical components (breakers, contactors, relays, VSDs, safety devices, etc.)
• Integrate PLC, HMI, servo, and drive systems into overall electrical architecture
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (SANS, IEC, etc.)
• Support panel building, installation, and commissioning activitiesCollaborate with mechanical, software, and production teams
• Prepare technical documentation, BOMs, and cable schedules

Required Experience & Skills

• Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics
• 2–5+ years’ experience in electrical design within industrial automation
• Proven experience designing control panels and production automation systems

Strong understanding of:

• PLC integration
• Motor control & drives
• Safety circuits and protection systems
• Experience with electrical CAD software (EPLAN preferred; AutoCAD Electrical acceptable)
• Knowledge of industrial standards and best practices
• Fluent in Afrikaans (as Afrikaans is similar to Dutch) and English
