Job description

AltGen is looking for a talented Design Engineer for a Renewable Energy Developer based in Stellenbosch. The role requires someone who can design Solar PV plants, and essentially take charge of plant layouts and designs.

The ideal candidate needs to generate and maintain GIS maps, identify project sites through desktop and site assessments and be responsible for designing high impact Solar PV, as well as manage external consultants in order to bring projects to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Solar PV: Engineer and optimise Solar PV for maximum efficiency and performance
• Predictive Yield Modelling: Conduct energy yield assessments for Solar PV plants using PVSyst to improve forecasting and system output
• Site Identification & Feasibility: Evaluate solar project locations through desktop research and on-site assessment to determine viability
• GIS Mapping & Layouts: Generate and maintain GIS maps for Solar PV designs using QGIS, Google Earth, and other industry tools
