Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing electrical systems and components in compliance with applicable standards, client specifications, and project requirements. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and cost-effective electrical solutions across various projects.



Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring layouts, and control systems.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Conduct load calculations, voltage drop analysis, cable sizing, and protective device coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards (e.g., IEC, SANS, NEC), and safety regulations.
  • Support the selection and specification of electrical components such as switchgear, transformers, cables, and circuit breakers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve design-related queries.
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather project data and verify design feasibility.
  • Qualifications
  • BTech, B. Eng or BSc (Eng) in Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
  • 3-5 years’ experience in engineering design or power systems
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP,
  • Experience with relevant simulation and design software packages would be beneficial (PV*Sol, PV Syst, WaSP, MatLab).
  • Strong knowledge of substation equipment, protection schemes, and utility standards.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Projects, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel, MS excel Power query.
  • Valid Drivers’ License and own car.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Self-starter, ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
