Design Engineer position available in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Area: Based in Pretoria with long-term international project travel (Africa, the Middle East, Asia, or Europe, depending on project pipeline).

Industry: Engineering Design & Project Implementation – Concentrator Plants.

Start Date: Proposed July / August on boarding TBC.

Travel: Frequent international projects (3 months+ per assignment).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, development, and detailing of engineered solutions for global clients
  • Create and manage technical documentation, drawings, and design specifications
  • Liaise with the project engineering teams, vendors, and clients across multiple geographies
  • Support the project lifecycle from concept through to fabrication, installation, and commissioning
  • Conduct on-site assessments and measurements for design validation and modifications
  • Ensure compliance with international design codes, project standards, and client requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on energy systems, process plants, and mechanical installations
  • Provide engineering input to procurement, manufacturing, and construction teams

Technical Competencies & Advantages:

Candidates with exposure to Concentrator Plant Equipment will be strongly considered:

  • Mills (SAG/Ball)
  • Thickeners
  • Flotation Cells
  • Crushers (Jaw, Cone, Gyratory)
  • Material handling systems
  • Piping and process flow diagrams (PFDs, P&IDs)
  • Structural steel and mechanical design in plant environments

Requirements:

  • Relevant Engineering Qualification (BEng/BSc – Mechanical or equivalent).
  • Min 3–5 years’ experience in the design, development or implementation of heavy industrial, capital-intensive systems or plants.
  • Familiarity with project environments in mining, heavy industry, industrial manufacturing / automation, mechanical systems will be an advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally (Africa, the Middle East, Asia, or Europe, depending on project pipeline ) for periods of up to 3 months at a time.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Valid passport & driver’s licence.
  • Comfortable working independently on remote sites with multi-national project teams.
