Design and Project Manager – Metal Fabrication

Job Summary:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Design and Project Manager to lead the design and execution of custom metal fabrication projects. You will oversee the full lifecycle—from client brief and CAD design through fabrication, installation, and delivery—ensuring that every project meets technical, budgetary, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Management:

• Interpret client requirements and technical specifications to develop practical, cost-effective design solutions.
• Create or review detailed CAD drawings, technical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant structural and safety standards.
• Collaborate with clients, engineers, and workshop staff to optimize design for manufacturing (DFM).

Project Management:

• Manage multiple fabrication projects simultaneously from quotation to completion.
• Create detailed project schedules, manage milestones, and coordinate materials procurement and labour allocation.
• Monitor timelines, budgets, and resources, identifying and resolving bottlenecks early.
• Conduct site visits as needed for measurements, progress tracking, or installation oversight.

Team & Client Coordination:

• Act as the primary liaison between clients, suppliers, workshop teams, and subcontractors.
• Provide clear briefs and production packages to workshop staff and fabricators.
• Lead project meetings and prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Quality & Safety:

• Maintain high standards of fabrication quality, accuracy, and finish.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are integrated into project plans and adhered to during execution.
• Oversee testing, inspections, and final handover documentation.

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar.
• 3–5+ years of experience in project management and CAD design within the metal fabrication or manufacturing industry.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
• Strong understanding of metal materials, welding techniques, cutting processes, and fabrication workflows.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Monday.com, or similar).

Preferred:

• Experience in structural steel, sheet metal, or custom fabrication projects.
• Familiarity with CE Marking, ISO standards, or EN 1090 certification processes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural or engineering drawings.
