Job description

1. Assist the Nursing Services Manager with the development, implementation and evaluation of the nursing strategic plan and sub-unit strategic plan.
2. Deputise in the absence of the Nursing Services Manager.
3. Attend meetings as requested by the Nursing Services Manager.
4. Ensure the implementation and adherence to nursing standards and policies.
5. Assist with the selection and appointment of staff.
6. Implement and monitor the induction of employees.
7. Implement and monitor in-service training.
8. Monitor and manage staff absenteeism.
9. Implement a system for mentoring.
10. Define, evaluate and correct the job descriptions and the scope of practice of staff identified where necessary.
11. Ensure a positive working environment conducive to Continuous Professional Development.
12. Evaluation, JPM and provide guidance to Unit Managers.
13. Liaison between various departments in the multi-disciplinary team.
14. Commitment to change is built by the mobilisation of resources to implement agreed changes.
15. Monitor staffing levels, based on the acuity levels in departments.
16. Manage client expectations according to the Melomed client services policies.
17. Weekly check of Unit Managers Schedule Drug audit report.
18. Analysis of all incident reports, root cause, interventions and outcomes.
19. Evaluate and manage all patients / visitor POS issues.
20. Evaluate infection control processes, interventions and outcomes.
