An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and results-driven Deputy Hospital Manager at a leading private healthcare facility. This role is pivotal to the organisation’s sustainability strategy and is designed to support leadership development, foster operational excellence, and enhance patient care standards. The ideal candidate will contribute meaningfully to strategic decision-making, oversee complementary services and business units, and play a key role in driving profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Hospital Manager will operate within a large hospital setting and be accountable for both operational and financial performance of complementary and ancillary services. Responsibilities include:

Quality Systems Management

• Drive implementation and improvement of quality standards and metrics.

• Ensure clinical compliance and ISO certification through benchmarking initiatives.

• Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective action plans.

Hospital Operations Management

• Develop and roll out strategic business plans to optimise hospital operations.

• Identify and implement best practices to support sustainable service delivery.

People Management

• Champion change through active leadership and visible support for productivity initiatives.

• Develop workforce plans and drive recruitment aligned with transformation goals.

• Support training and performance management processes.

• Minimise IR-related issues and manage compensation processes through department heads.

Doctor Relationship Management

• Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with medical professionals.

• Implement doctor retention and attraction strategies.

Marketing and Growth Strategy

• Analyse competitive landscape to support effective hospital marketing.

• Ensure visibility through local community engagement and project positioning.

Financial Management

• Develop, monitor, and report on annual budgets.

• Oversee capital expenditure projects.

• Drive revenue generation and cost control across operational units.

Governance and Risk Management

• Conduct risk assessments and reviews to uphold business ethics and compliance standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Postgraduate degree in Commerce, Engineering, Health Sciences, or a relevant business discipline.

• Completion of a recognised Hospital Manager Development Programme is advantageous.

• Proven leadership experience in healthcare operations, financial planning, and team management.

• Strong understanding of the private healthcare sector and relevant legislation.

• Proficient in MS Office and hospital management systems.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for business-related purposes.
