Job title : Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions - Sexual Offences and Community Affairs

Requirements :
- An LLB degree. For serving prosecutors seeking promotion, any appropriate legal qualification.
- At least ten (10) years of post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation. Demonstrable competency in acting independently, professionally, and with credibility.
- Admitted Attorney and/or Advocate. Right of appearance as contemplated in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
Duties :
- Manage portfolios assigned by the Special Director. Liaise with and manage relevant stakeholders. Manage, train, and guide SOCA provincial and cluster managers, prosecutors, and stakeholders regarding all matters related to the SOCA mandate. Provide prosecutor-guided investigations and prosecute cases when requested by the Special Director. Study case dockets and related documents, make and review decisions on criminal proceedings.
- Prepare cases for court, appear in appeals and reviews under the instruction of the Special Director. Prepare court opinions. Develop and implement strategic plans for the unit and lead staff to achieve objectives. Manage staff performance and development. Handle representations and complaints.
- Ensure high standards of professional work. Promote partner integration, community involvement, and customer satisfaction in collaboration with criminal justice partners. Initiate and coordinate public awareness campaigns and training. Oversee TCC sites in the province. Assist with budget planning and donor funding. Represent the NPA on SOCA-related media matters as requested by the Special Director.
- Maintain quality control of statistics and performance related to the SOCA mandate. Compile reports as required. Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by the Special Director.
