Job title: Depot Manager – REF : JWEX02 / 202526

Job Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the provision of all continuous water and sanitation service to the public throughout the allocated depot area. In close consultation with the UFW Department, ensure that unaccounted for water is kept to an acceptable minimum by managing all leaks and repairs. Ensure that all relevant records are kept for the entire Depot. Manage the installation, replacement, and testing of water meters to ensure compliance with National and Johannesburg Water standards.
• Direct the development of a preventative maintenance programme for the entire water and sewer reticulation system – including large valves PRV’s and outfall sewers served by the depot area. Responsible for the efficient management of complaints received. In conjunction with the Ops managers manage the response times. Interpret, and advise the Regional Manager on public needs, concerns and criticism in relation to the functional responsibility of the region. Plan, propose and implement pro-active measures and response to public needs.
• Consult stakeholders in respect of functional areas of region. Co-ordinate and advice the Regional Manager on all matters relating to water and sanitation services. Attend Regional service delivery meetings and ensure that decisions taken are being implemented and resolved. Ensure sound labour relations practices and management of discipline.
• Manage personnel in accordance with Johannesburg Water policies and legislation. Ensure the implantation of performance management as per the policy. Assist with the preparation of the operating budget. Ensure cost efficient use of materials. Ensure compliance with the OHSACT and Johannesburg Water policies and procedures.
