Job description

The Department of Basic Education, in partnership with SA Youth, is now recruiting for Phase V of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI-BEEI). This opportunity is aimed at unemployed youth who want to gain valuable experience by working in public schools across South Africa.

The following positions are open for applications:

Education Assistants (EA)

Requirements: Minimum of a Grade 12 / Matric is required, but preference will be given to those with tertiary qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with teaching & learning in classrooms
• Reading Champions
• e-Cadres – ICT integration in classrooms
• Care & Support Assistants – Psychosocial support
• Laboratory Assistants
• Workshop Assistants

General School Assistants (GSA)

Requirements: No Grade 12 / Matric required.

Responsibilities:

• Help with infrastructure maintenance and cultural activities
• Handymen/women – maintenance of school infrastructure
• Sports and Enrichment Assistants – lead sport, arts, and cultural activities

• South African citizens aged 18 – 34 years old
• Must have a South African bank account
• Must live within 5km of an urban school or within 30km of a farm/rural school
