Job summary

MedE Recruit is assisting a modern, well-established dental practice in Randburg, Johannesburg to hire a friendly, organised and proactive Dental Assistant to join their team. You will support the dentist, patients and practice daily, assist during procedures, prepare and sterilise equipment, manage stock, and help with basic reception duties when required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 and Saturdays 08:00–12:00 (one Saturday per month).

Qualifications

• Experience as a Dental Assistant is required.
• HPCSA registration is required.
• Knowledge of dental assisting procedures and sterilisation protocols is essential.
• Strong organisational and communication skills are needed.
• Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to assist with basic reception duties when required.

• Assist the dentist during procedures.
• Prepare and set up surgeries for procedures.
• Sterilise instruments and maintain infection control standards.
• Manage stock take and inventory.
• Keep equipment and treatment areas clean and ready for use.
• Provide a welcoming and professional patient experience.

The successful candidate will assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring that the dentist, patients, and practice environment are well supported.

Minimum Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Dental Assistant
• HPCSA registered
• Good knowledge of dental assisting procedures and sterilisation protocols
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Professional appearance and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a structured, fast-paced environment
• A proactive approach with the ability to take initiative
• Good computer skills
• Willingness to assist with basic reception duties when required

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting the dentist during procedures
• Preparing and setting up surgeries for procedures
• Sterilising instruments and maintaining proper infection‑control standards

Salary: R12 000 – R15 000 per month before deductions, depending on experience
