About the Opportunity
Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing Dental Practice in Linksfield, Johannesburg , for a professional and experienced Dental Assistant / Receptionist to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
Reception & Administration
- Manage patient bookings and appointments.
- Handle reception and patient enquiries professionally.
- Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
- Maintain accurate patient and clinical documentation.
- Assist with general dental-related administration.
- Coordinate the daily appointment schedule and patient flow.
- Provide professional and friendly patient service.
Clinical Assistance
- Assist the Dentist during dental procedures and patient treatments.
- Prepare and organise instruments, materials and equipment.
- Assist with cleanings, fillings, impressions, extractions, root canals and orthodontics.
- Prepare patients for treatment and ensure their comfort.
- Maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
Sterilisation & Infection Control
- Sterilise instruments according to infection control protocols.
- Clean and autoclave instruments and equipment.
- Load and unload the autoclave and ensure proper operation.
- Complete daily cleaning and monitoring of sterilisation equipment.
- Ensure dental handpieces are cleaned and maintained daily.
- Ensure correct reprocessing of dental equipment and instruments.
Stock & Practice Operations
- Order dental materials and clinical stock.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure required materials are available.
- Maintain and organise clinical supplies.
- Identify equipment or instrument issues and report them for repair or replacement.
- Maintain developer and mixer bottles where applicable.
- Assist with the overall efficient operation of the practice.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Dental Assistant with HPCSA – Essential.
- Dental Assisting Certificate – Essential.
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a private dental practice or clinic environment.
- Experience with Exact dental practice management software .
- Strong knowledge of dental sterilisation and infection control procedures.
- Experience with patient bookings and general dental practice administration.
- Experience with ordering and managing dental materials will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Hours
Monday – Friday: 07:00 – 17:00
Weekends: Possible, depending on practice requirements.

Market Related
Performance bonuses may be available depending on the successful candidate . The overall package is negotiable based on the candidate's experience, skills and suitability for the role.
