Job description

We have an exciting opportunity in the TFG Design & Manufacturing Division for our newly formed TFG Denim & Speciality Division! If your blood is Blue and you have a passion for Denim and you are seeking to make a difference in the South African Manufacturing landscape within Denim, then this is the Position for you! We are all about creating jobs in South Africa. The TFG Denim Design Division is designing & product developing denim for all of the TFG Brands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating real digital samples designed by the designer.
  • Manage laser technology and apply designs to achieve the desired effect on garments.
  • Handle all dry processes, including laser machine operation within the Design Centre servicing the TFG Group's denim division.
  • Collaborate with wet technicians to develop finishing recipes that meet design requirements.
  • Work on-site and off-site with strategic suppliers to develop recipes and product samples for bulk production.
  • Partner with the design team to develop new techniques for upcoming seasons.
  • Scale lab recipes to bulk wash plants.
  • Develop wash libraries, seasonal wash developments, and dry processing techniques.
  • Coordinate with buying and denim design teams to meet strategic objectives within timelines.
  • Manage personal KPIs aligned with team and group KPIs.
  • Engage with suppliers to develop improvement plans and troubleshoot issues in real time.
  • Execute samples within QR timelines for division capsule showings.
  • Research and innovate in dry processing techniques that are cost-effective and trend-forward.
Qualifications And Experience
  • National Diploma in Clothing Management, Clothing Production, or Fashion Design.
  • Management Development Programme (MDP/SMDP) is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in denim wash plant manufacturing, laser environment, and dry processing techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of design, product development, manufacturing processes, especially laser techniques.
  • Familiarity with denim industry challenges and opportunities.
  • Proven track record in design, product development, supplier performance improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Experience with E-designer and Jeanologia technology is advantageous.

  • Strong understanding of dry processing techniques like ripping, destruction, laser, abrasions, etc.
  • Knowledge of sustainable washing practices.
