About the Role

Our client, a prominent retail chain with extensive operations in Tembisa, Gauteng , is seeking a reliable and diligent Delivery Driver to join their logistics team. This role is vital for ensuring that retail merchandise is transported efficiently and safely from distribution points to various store locations. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver's license, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to punctuality and customer service. You will be responsible for operating delivery vehicles and contributing to the seamless supply chain that keeps our client’s stores stocked and customers satisfied within the Tembisa and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate delivery vehicles (trucks/vans) to transport retail goods to various store locations.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, checking for mechanical issues and ensuring roadworthiness.
• Load and unload merchandise efficiently and safely, ensuring goods are not damaged during transit.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
• Plan and execute daily delivery routes to meet schedule requirements in and around Tembisa .
• Provide excellent service to store staff upon delivery, ensuring correct quantities and items are delivered.
• Report any vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, or delivery delays promptly to the supervisor.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the delivery vehicle.
• Assist with warehouse duties such as stock checking and organization when required.

Requirements

• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 driver's license with a professional driving permit (PDP).
• Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably in a retail or distribution environment.
• Clean driving record with no significant traffic violations.
• Good knowledge of the road network in Gauteng , particularly the Tembisa area.
• Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading of goods, which may include heavy items.
• Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to work flexible hours if required.
• Experience with handheld scanners for proof of delivery is a plus.
