DELI MANAGER / HEAD CHEF - PIETERMARITZBURG

POSITION INFO :

RedCat Recruitment is seeking an experienced DELI MANAGER / HEAD CHEF for a large growing concern, position based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Grade 12.
2. Relevant Culinary qualification or equivalent experience. Food safety and hygiene certification advantageous!
3. Valid driver’s license / own reliable vehicle.
4. Strong computer skills (MS Office, Email / Internet). Point of Sale and Arch Software experience!
5. 5+ yrs working experience in a supervisory role within a food services environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervise and manage all aspects of the deli division, including food preparation, service, and cleanliness.
2. Develop and implement menus that incorporate perishable products into prepared or frozen meals, minimizing wastage.
3. Create affordable, appealing lunch options to attract weekday customers.
4. Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are maintained at all times.
5. Oversee the daily operations of the food services team, including Food Services Staff, Barista, and Cleaner.
6. Train, mentor, and motivate team members to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain high operational standards.
7. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed, ensuring cost control and minimizing wastage.
8. Conduct regular stocktakes and manage the ordering process to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
9. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently.
10. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies related to food services.
11. Collaborate with the General Manager and Group Management Team to develop strategies for increasing sales and profitability of the deli division.
12. Consistently maintain order and ensure smooth operations at the forecourt and convenience store.
13. Marketing and promotions.
14. Reporting and communication.
15. Willingly fill in for no shows, short staff and busy periods.
