Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. Gallagher Convention Centre is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Debtors / Creditors & Property Accountant to join our finance team.
This dual-role position involves managing key financial functions such as debtors and creditors processing, inventory reconciliation, property accounting, and supporting audit processes.
You will work closely with both the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and our Property Manager to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Cashbook & Bank Reconciliation
Daily capturing and allocation of bank transactions (customer payments, supplier refunds, commissions, COD). Identification and resolution of unknown transactions in consultation with the Financial Director. Accurate reconciliation of multiple accounts, including current, salary, call, and speedpoint accounts. Maintain signed monthly bank reconciliation records. - Creditors Management
Processing valid, compliant tax invoices on Pastel Evolution. Enforcing proper documentation protocols: signed invoices, POs, PODs. Matching POs with approved quotes and handling exceptions. Preparing accurate monthly reconciliation of supplier accounts. - Payment Processing
Load payments on FNB, ensuring correct documentation and approval flow (Finance Manager and CEO). Manage COD transactions with appropriate tax documentation. Maintain organized proof-of-payment files and reconciliation forms. - Property Accounting Responsibilities
Manage the full financial accounting function for an assigned commercial building. Process and issue monthly invoices to large tenants for rent, utilities, and services. Work closely with the Property Manager to track project-related expenses, ensure timely receipt and approval of supplier invoices, monitor and process maintenance and capital expenses, perform month-end reporting, ledger reviews, and reconciliations for the property. Ensure all property-related payments go through the correct approval workflow before processing. - Inventory Reconciliation & Stock Count
Assist with monthly and year-end stock reconciliations and cost of goods sold tracking. Support operational teams during stock counts and post-count reviews. Help ensure inventory integrity in relation to financial records. - Audit Preparation & Support
Capture all income and expenses within the correct financial year. Assist with audit preparation and document collation. Respond to auditor questions and supply supporting information. Liaise with external auditors and ensure smooth audit processes. - POS System (Pilot) Awareness
Basic understanding of the Pilot POS system. Reconcile POS sales data with inventory and general ledger entries. Identify and resolve POS data discrepancies in coordination with operations. - General Finance Administration
Assist with daily tasks assigned by the Financial Director. Train internal staff on Pastel Evolution procedures when needed. Support the finance team during large event cash-ups. Archive and organize monthly finance documentation.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in creditors / debtors and bank reconciliations.
- Experience in the property industry and some experience in event accounting.
- Proficiency in Pastel Evolution.
- Sound understanding of SARS tax invoice requirements and accounting standards.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage workloads independently and as part of a team.
