Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand is seeking a DC Dispatch Supervisor to drive operational excellence in the warehouse. You will manage route planning, dispatch for local and line-haul deliveries, returns, and vehicle maintenance, while ensuring compliance with safety and customer requirements.

The role requires Matric and a relevantTransport/Logistics qualification, plus up to two years of related experience. A market-related package and benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric is required.
• A degree or diploma in Transport Management or Supply-Chain / Logistics is required.
• 2 years of relevant experience in Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan optimal route and space to meet daily objectives.
• Execute stock movement from the distribution centre.
• Route vehicles for optimum utilisation and turnaround times.
• Deliver orders to local and coastal stores within 48 hours when applicable.
• Coordinate returns and track upliftments through the return process.

• Maintain accurate administration and transactional records.
• Adhere to GWP, SHE programme and OHS act.

Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ in Midrand has an opportunity available for a DC Dispatch Supervisor to join the team. The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence within the Dis-Chem Warehouse incorporating functions in the following areas, order consolidation, route planning, dispatch both Local and Line-haul, returns, vehicle maintenance and in so doing ensure that both legal and customer requirements, are met.

Minimum Requirements…

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Transport Management or Supply-Chain / Logistics Degree or Diploma

Advantageous:

• 2 Years relevant experience, in a Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment

Job Specification…

• Ensure optimal route and space planning to meet the day-to-day strategic objectives.
• Understand and execute the planning process involved when stock leaves the distribution centre.
• Ensure routing of vehicles to ensure optimum utilisation and vehicle turnaround times.
• Ensure all deliveries picked the previous day, are delivered the next day to local stores and within 48 hours to Coastal stores.
• Arrange returns and collection of the upliftments, which must be tracked throughout the return process.
• Assist in supervising the process flow within the return cage, as per Dis-Chem standard and operational requirements.
• Implementation of more efficient means of streamlining the operations.
• Ensure accurate administration for transactional excellence.
• Manage and adhere to GWP, SHE programme and OHS act.
• Ensure department’s consumable needs are met.
• Ensure drivers are debriefed, paperwork is filled and queries resolved.
• Ensure admin and daily checking of all delivery log sheets takes place, to facilitate queries and credit note request.
• Monitor fleet running cost and diesel usage.
• Assist in supervising maintenance records of vehicles.
• Processes all accidents and insurance claims.
• Monitor internal and driver performance, to ensure good customer service both internally and stores.
• Prevent and act on security or risk issues and ensure that risks are dealt with proactively.
• Assist in supervising outsourced companies, including daily and monthly monitoring of SLA`s and costs.
• Ability to analyse and interpret any shrinkage indicators and act accordingly.
• Be security conscious all the time and avoid committing theft or fraud.

Competencies

Essential:

• Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations.
• Have knowledge of the business measures and targets, directly related to own role.
• Be able to communicate proactively in order to build co-operative relationships with internal customers.
