Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Stikland, Cape Town has an opportunity for a DC Checker to join the distribution centre team. The role focuses on achieving operational excellence by performing outbound checking, ensuring accuracy, proper packing, and complete documentation for every order.

You will work in a fast-paced logistics environment, support stock control, and contribute to safety, compliance, and timely dispatch to stores.

Qualifications

• Matric with English and Mathematics
• 1 year relevant experience in a distribution, logistics or supply chain environment
• Computer literacy – MS Office

Responsibilities

• Ensure high accuracy during checking of picked orders
• Scan picked stock to verify against required quantity, batch and expiry date
• Pack stock to prevent cross-contamination and damage during transport to stores
• Include pack-slip or label with description in the stock box or tote
• Label dispatch goods with store name, invoice number, and number of boxes
• Do not remove stock without proper documentation or supervisor approval
• Meet targets with emphasis on accuracy
• Report and record errors by pickers
• Report damage or malfunction of checking equipment
• Confer with supervisors regarding stock errors and damages
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas
• Ensure storage area utilization is optimized
• Be security conscious and prevent theft/fraud
• Set aside extra/wrong picks for supervisor authorization

The main purpose of this role will be to achieve operational excellence, within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centre. Perform a checking function in the outbound checking area, in order to meet both legal and customer requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Matric - With English and Mathematics
• 1 Year relevant experience, in a Distribution, Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
• Computer Literacy - MS Office

Advantageous

• Supply-Chain or Logistics Degree or Diploma
• Computer Skills - Word, Excel, Outlook

Job Description

• Ensure that a high standard of accuracy is maintained during checking of picked orders
• Ensure that all picked stock is scanned to verify order against required quantity, batch and expiry date
• Ensure that stock is packed in a manner that will prevent cross-contamination and damages during transport to stores
• Ensure that once checked that: Either the pack-slip is included in the box or label with the description of goods in the Stock box or tote
• Ensure that all goods when packed for dispatch to stores are labelled with labels required. (Use the store name/ invoice number and number of boxes)
• Do not allow stock to be removed from the warehouse, without proper documentation or the approval of the supervisor or manager/pharmacist
• Meet set targets set by management with emphasis on accuracy
• Report and record, on all errors made by pickers, to supervisors or management
• Report on the damage or malfunction of all checking equipment
• Confer with supervisors or management regularly regarding stock errors and damages
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Ensure that the checking area storage and space utilization is optimized
• Be security conscious at all times and avoid theft and fraud
• Ensure that extra/ wrong picks are set aside for supervisor authorisation allowing inventory to return stock to bin

Competencies

Essential

• Knowledge of Distribution Centre, logistics and supply chain operations. Have knowledge of the business measures and targets,directly related to own role
• English -Read, write and speak.
