Job summary

Blue Pearl PTY in Johannesburg seeks an senior data/AI architect to lead AI solution planning and enterprise-scale AI architecture. You will partner with the AI Technology Centre of Excellence to build the Databricks AI platform and enable enterprise AI and generative AI use cases.

The role focuses on governance, guardrails, and best practices while driving design across data, application, and technology viewpoints. Strong Databricks expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a technical/solution design role and 7+ years IT experience.
• Expert Databricks proficiency including Delta Lake, Spark and MLflow.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering AI/ML on Databricks with MLOps.
• Hands-on with large-scale cloud-based data and AI platform implementation.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI solution planning and align with business goals and constraints.
• Design enterprise AI architectures, guardrails, and blueprints.
• Govern AI architecture risk, compliance and governance functions.
• Collaborate with AI COE to build Databricks AI platform and pipelines.
• Ensure CI/CD pipelines support rapid, reliable data solution deployment.
• Develop and maintain AI architecture artifacts and repository standards.
• Communicate architecture views and standards to stakeholders.
