Database Migration Engineer (MS SQL Server) – AWS Cloud Migration Expert at Sabenza IT & Recruitment

We are looking for a highly skilled and self-driven Database Migration Engineer (MS SQL Server) with extensive experience in large-scale cloud migrations to AWS. You will be a key player in transforming legacy systems by migrating mission-critical databases to RDS and EC2 environments. Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and execute large-scale SQL Server database migrations from on-prem to AWS RDS and EC2 environments.
2. Develop, enhance, and follow structured migration runbooks to ensure seamless transitions.
3. Write and optimize T-SQL scripts for data transformation, performance tuning, and validation.
4. Perform pre-migration assessments, data mapping, backup/restore strategies, and post-migration verification.
5. Ensure data integrity, uptime, and security during and after migration in regulated/production environments.
6. Proactively identify and resolve performance, reliability, and compatibility issues during migrations.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application developers, cloud engineers, and security to align on delivery timelines and migration best practices.
8. Provide clear documentation for all migration activities, tooling, and processes.
9. Operate independently, with autonomy and accountability for successful delivery.

Requirements:

1. 5+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012+).
2. Proven experience with large-scale SQL Server migrations to AWS (RDS and EC2).
3. Deep understanding of cloud data platforms, especially AWS Database Services.
4. Proficient in writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.
5. Understanding of security best practices in data handling and migration.
6. Experience working in regulated and mission-critical environments.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical and analytical mindset.
8. Ability to work independently and lead migration projects end-to-end.
