Role Description

1. Administrative Database Management

Operate and control database infrastructure to support IT services.

Monitor performance, availability, and capacity of SQL Server environments.

Maintain compliance with regulatory, legal, and professional standards.

2. Monitoring & Maintenance

Monitor database health, logs, capacity, and performance.

Tune thresholds and alerts; ensure optimal configuration settings.

Perform regular consistency checks and manage database fragmentation.

3. Incident & Problem Management

Investigate and resolve database issues using ITIL-based processes.

Perform root cause analysis and manage vendor escalations.

Restore services and manage incident lifecycle from notification to closure.

4. Change Management

Implement minor configuration changes and support continual service improvement.

Provide advice on planned changes and participate in change control processes.

5. Backup & Recovery

Manage daily backups and ad-hoc backup requests.

Support recovery operations in the event of failure or disaster.

6. Security & Patching

Administer user access and monitor database security.

Apply routine and critical patches in accordance with change management.

7. Reporting

Produce quarterly reports on database status, issues, and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SQL Server BI Suite (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) infrastructure components
• Proven experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
• Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies
• Familiarity with database security best practices and patch management
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• SQL migration experience
