This role is technical in nature and is responsible for providing high-quality and timely database management support to ensure the availability, stability, and performance of data centers, cloud platforms, and corporate systems.
Database Management: Database types include MS SQL, Azure, Sybase, and Oracle.
Organisational Design: This position is part of the CIO department and reports to the regional Head of Database Management.
Specific Role Responsibilities
- Design: Ensure database environments are designed according to best practice standards for resilience and availability to maintain high SLAs.
- Availability: Meet uptime SLAs by managing issue logs, performing scheduled maintenance, and minimizing disruptions.
- Performance: Monitor database performance, capacity, and growth; suggest and implement improvements to meet performance SLAs.
- Information Security: Maintain security by following policies, implementing controls, conducting risk assessments, and documenting for audits.
- Business Continuity: Ensure backups are made and tested, participate in BCP & DR tests, and document resilience and backup plans.
- Training: Develop technical skills and provide advice and mentoring within the team.
- Project Work: Implement projects within timelines, working with multinational teams.
- Budget: Recommend cost-saving measures.
Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent certifications and relevant experience; DBA certifications are advantageous.
- Experience with database installation, patching, managing files, user accounts, performance, objects, reorganization, and management on Windows, AIX, and Linux.
- Knowledge of best practices, change control, DR testing, SQL / PLSQL coding, capacity planning, and scripting for database administration.
- Keen interest in latest technologies, successful project implementation, teamwork, independence, initiative, communication skills, problem-solving, adaptability, and task prioritization in high-pressure environments.
