Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a talented Data Scientist to join a data-driven team. This fully remote role allows you to work from anywhere in South Africa and focus on extracting insights, building predictive models, and informing decisions.

You will collect and preprocess large datasets, develop ML solutions with Python/R, visualize results, and collaborate with engineering to deploy models in production. A strong background in statistics, ML, and data visualization is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, CS, Economics) or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Experience with ML libraries (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Proficiency with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
• Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
