About the Role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will drive Capitec's AI strategy, shaping and owning this vision from the ground up. Your expertise in machine learning—including deep learning, NLP, and reinforcement learning—will be crucial in developing innovative models to solve complex business challenges.

You will manage the full machine learning lifecycle, from data preprocessing to deploying models in production, and engage with stakeholders across the business, including executive management. Mentoring junior data scientists and working with frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch will be key parts of your role.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 6+ years of experience in a senior data science role
• Master's degree or higher in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or physics
• Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML solutions
• Expertise in NLP, deep learning, reinforcement learning, or time-series modeling
• Proficiency in Python/R and familiarity with databases
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Stakeholder engagement skills, including with senior management
• GitHub or Git experience
