Job description

The primary purpose of this role is to derive business value from data. As a Data Scientist, you will proactively fetch, analyze, and store information from multiple sources. Your work will involve performing sophisticated statistical analysis, creating actionable insights, and communicating findings effectively across both technical and non-technical teams.

This role involves:

  • Expanding internal or external database structures.

  • Using advanced analytics techniques (including machine learning where applicable).

  • Communicating results and methodologies to internal stakeholders and possibly external clients.


Core Responsibilities


  • Clean and prepare data using data wrangling techniques.

  • Conduct in-depth statistical and mathematical analysis.

  • Use Python, SQL, and R for data modelling and predictive analysis.

  • Apply data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI) to share insights.

  • Store and manage structured data in appropriate environments (internal/cloud-based).

  • Ensure data version control and auditing.

  • Validate data from multiple sources, including files, databases, and online platforms.

  • Perform geospatial analysis and business requirement documentation.

  • Understand and model insurance-related processes and reinsurance treaties (if relevant to project).




Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field with a strong focus on computer science, statistics, mathematics, or actuarial sciences.

· Proficiency in Python, SQL, and R is essential.

· Experience with data modelling, cloud/web infrastructure, and software infrastructure building.

· Familiarity with version control and regulatory standards for personal data.

· 3-5 years in a data science, data warehousing, or modelling environment.

· Familiarity with insurance industry data and actuarial principles is a plus.

· Spark, Azure, and web deployment experience are advantageous.
