Job summary

Synergy Jobs (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Data Scientist in Cape Town to deliver data-driven insights and build a product you can sell. You will mine, interpret and clean data, asking questions to uncover opportunities that ultimately inform business decisions.

You will collaborate with business teams, design models, implement analytics and deploy solutions with cross-functional partners while presenting findings with Power BI and clear visuals.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field such as maths, CS, physics, economics or statistics.
• Strong statistical techniques and analytics experience.
• Ability to translate business problems into quantitative solutions.
• Experience with Python, SQL and R for data analysis.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure/AWS) and relational DBs.
• Solid communication of analytical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborate with business to develop an understanding of analytical needs and information needed for making decisions
• Research and devise innovative statistical models for data analysis and implement analytics for meaningful insights Keep current with technical and industry developments

• Ideal candidate should have a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics, operations research, quantitative social science)
• Basic Knowledge on software development principles and architecture
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to break down and understand complex business problems, define a solution and implement it using advanced quantitative methods
• Familiarity with programming for data analysis; ideally Python, SQL, R
• Solid oral and written communication skills, especially around analytical concepts, and methods
• Great work ethic and intellectual curiosity
• Knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Azure/AWS
• Knowledge of relational databases; ideally MSSQL
