Job summary

Nedbank is seeking a Data Analyst - Recons and Control to develop automated data extraction and reconciliation processes, mitigate operational risks, and support reconciliation-related audits. The role requires strong SQL, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement skills in Nedbank's Loyalty, Rewards and Partnership area.

The analyst will transform manual reconciliations into automated controls across IT and business units.

Qualifications

3–5 years of SQL script writing experience.
1–3 years AWS experience would be advantageous.
System analysis background would be an advantage.
Ability to reconcile large data sets accurately.
Identify trends, anomalies and control weaknesses from data.
Root-cause analysis capability based on data.
Strong problem-solving skills.
SQL or scripting experience (SQL, Python).
Advanced Excel, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
Data extraction and manipulation; reconciliation and exception reporting.
Understanding of databases and data structures.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain scripts to extract data from various sources.
Perform reconciliations between reports, systems and data sets.
Compare multiple reports and identify mismatches.
Notice patterns and anomalies quickly.
Produce exception and management reporting.
Maintain high levels of accuracy.
Investigate reconciliation breaks and conduct root-cause analysis.
Escalate risks before they become incidents.
Develop interim and permanent data-driven controls to mitigate operational risk.
Recommend permanent matching keys and system enhancements.
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Manage and coordinate annual internal audit requirements relating to reconciliations and controls.
Maintain audit evidence, control documentation, and reconciliation sign-offs.
Work with operational teams, IT and business units to resolve incidents.
Document risks and controls effectively.
Test and verify for QA environment; standby on technical deployments.
Manage production issues and logging of incidents.
Investigation and validation of data; approvals.
Conduct problem solving and detailed root cause analysis.
