Job summary

Time Personnel in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Data Operations Lead to coordinate multi-tier teams across managers, leads and operators, ensuring data quality and governance.

You will mentor Team Leads, design training frameworks, optimize workflows, and apply Agile practices to keep delivery visible and aligned with product and operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing within a multi-tier structure coordinating across managers, leads and operators.
  • Background in data operations, data quality or a detail-heavy delivery environment.
  • Familiarity with PBSA / student accommodation or the property sector.
  • Confidence with data tools, reporting, spreadsheets, and Jira.
  • Proven experience leading leaders and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of data operations, governance, and quality management principles.
  • Experience improving operational processes using data-driven decision-making.
  • Practical experience working within Agile environments and using Jira to manage delivery.
  • Experience designing and delivering training and capability-building initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a focus on accountability, continuous improvement, and team development.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports ownership of data quality and operations ensuring data is collected, validated and managed to agreed accuracy, completeness and consistency standards
  • Lead, mentor and develop Team Leads and Data Leads
  • Own and improve the quality control frameworks, workflow processes and training structures that keep the function reliable and scalable
  • Build and streamline training programmes for new hires and existing team members
  • Optimise workflows, identify inefficiencies, implement changes and measure the impact on efficiency and accuracy
  • Apply Agile practices to guide and support Team Leads, keeping delivery organised, visible and consistent across teams
  • Plan and manage capacity and pipeline across teams, balancing workload against deadlines and available resources
  • Monitor team and data performance against KPIs, tracking error and exception rates and acting on trends early
  • Handle escalations above Team Lead level and remove blockers to delivery
  • Work with Product & Product Owners — to maintain a shared understanding of team capacity and workflow management, so priorities and delivery expectations stay aligned
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team, Customer Support team and other internal teams to ensure data meets operational and product needs without disrupting core operations
  • Report progress, risks and recommendations to the Director, providing clear input to support planning, prioritisation and resourcing
