Job summary

Luxaviation Group is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Group BI team in Johannesburg. You will help develop data and analytics capabilities, transforming complex data into trusted insights to support operations and strategy.

Key responsibilities include designing ETL/ELT processes, building data pipelines with Python and Airflow, and developing BI models in a data warehouse. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and a focus on AI-enabled analytics are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of data engineering experience.
Strong understanding of ETL/ELT principles and data warehousing.
Good knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
Strong SQL proficiency and Python for data engineering.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and manage ETL/ELT processes to load data into data warehouses.
Build, schedule and monitor data pipelines using Python and Apache Airflow.
Migrate tool-based ETL jobs to code-based pipelines with version control.
Design, develop and manage BI models in a data warehouse (star/snowflake schemas).
Prepare data for analysis and ensure accessibility and quality.
Document data models, metrics and metadata for AI-assisted analytics.
