Job Description

OMI - iWYZE is seeking a Data Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure supporting storage, processing, and retrieval. The role involves managing data pipelines in Databricks to ensure efficient job execution for timely reporting to business units. The Data Engineer will also redesign pipelines and apply data modeling best practices to enhance reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in Databricks.
• Redesign pipelines for improved efficiency and support for reporting needs.
• Apply data modeling best practices, including Kimball methods like the Star Schema.
• Collaborate with teams across Analytics, Distribution, Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Finance, HR, IT, and others.
• Ensure data quality and integrity across platforms.
• Implement and manage version control and CI/CD pipelines using Git, Terraform, etc.
• Support migration of scripts to Databricks, including SAS scripts.

Qualifications

• Matric and a degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Engineering.
• At least 3 years of data engineering experience.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with data modeling and ETL design, especially Kimball methods.
• Knowledge of distributed data processing languages like PySpark.
• Experience with version control and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across teams.
