Job summary

FirstRand invites applications for a Transaction Manager role based in Johannesburg. You will manage the life cycle of a transaction, mitigate operational risks, and ensure data quality and regulatory alignment across traders, risk teams and back-office processing.

You will read legal agreements to draw amortisation schedules, book deals in systems, prepare client notifications and support accurate financial reporting with strong data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent; BCom preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in a Transaction Manager / Deal Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of Mark to Market and valuation of financial instruments.
• Experience booking loans and translating loan agreements into Excel models.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and take initiative.
• Excellent client service and stakeholder relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in ad hoc projects.
• Read legal agreements to draw amortisation schedules and book deals.
• Deduce payment amounts from legals and schedules.
• Prepare client notifications and submit payments for approval.
• Ensure regulatory requirements are fulfilled before draw down.
• Perform ongoing deal management tasks per legal agreements.
• Reconcile and settle instruments on systems.
• Resolve data discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
• Communicate data quality insights to traders and risk managers.
• Develop metrics for data quality and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, credit, and operations.
• Attend DCFs for new deals and comment on agreements.
