Job summary

FirstRand Bank India is seeking a Transaction Manager to oversee the lifecycle of transactions, ensure data integrity, and mitigate operational and regulatory risk. You will coordinate projects, interpret legals, and derive amortisation schedules while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

You will work with traders, risk teams and back-office staff, ensuring accuracy, timely reporting and adherence to SLAs.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent. Ideally a BCom
• Years of experience: Min 2 years in a Transaction Manager / Deal Manager role or similar
• Strong technical grasp of Mark to Market and theoretical valuation of financial instruments, including derivatives and calculation of risk sensitivities as required.
• Strong grasp on loan structures, familiar with booking loans, interpreting loan agreements and translating them into Excel deal models / amortisation schedules.
• Ability to prioritize, juggle many things at once and take initiative.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders for excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in any ad hoc project as required.
• Read and understand legal agreements to draw up an amortisation schedule and book deals.
• Derive payment amounts from the legals and amortisation schedule.
• Prepare notification to clients and submit payments for approval.
• Ensure all legal requirements are fulfilled before draw down can occur.
• Ensure all ongoing deal management tasks are performed in line with the legal agreements.
• Settle all instruments on the correct systems.
• Clear reconciliation and exception report items within SLA timeframes.
• Respond to queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare financial statements, investor reports and regulator reports.
• Conduct detailed reviews of transaction data to identify discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
• Validate that all transactions are booked accurately and in line with client instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and flag inconsistencies in transaction data and escalate promptly.
• Attend DCF’s for new deals and comment on Legal Agreements for operationalisation.
• Reconcile transaction records across systems for data integrity.
• Communicate data quality insights to traders and risk managers.
• Develop and monitor data quality metrics within transaction management.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and client service.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, credit and operations for cohesive workflow.
• Engage in ongoing training to build transaction management expertise.
• Build collaborative relationships to achieve productivity.
