BACKGROUND

Peace Parks Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation that specialises in conservation at scale through the development of transfrontier conservation areas and the long-term management of key protected areas, in partnership with government conservation agencies and communities within these landscapes. We currently focus on the development of five priority transboundary landscapes measuring over 65 million hectares throughout southern Africa, and the co-management of ten national parks and protected areas covering over 5.2 million hectares.

JOB PROFILE

You are a driven and detail-oriented Data Co-ordinator who will support the implementation of our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework and manage our Impact Tracker (a custom web-based platform that visualises key programme data). You will be at the heart of our data ecosystem, ensuring quality, consistency and strategic use of data to drive programme impact, learning and accountability.

You’ll work closely with programme teams, developers and stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the organisation.

JOB PURPOSE

The Data Co-ordinator is responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of the organisation's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework. This role involves designing and implementing robust MEL systems, conducting data analysis and generating actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making. The co-ordinator will work closely with programme teams to ensure data quality, consistency and utilisation. In addition, the role includes overseeing the maintenance and optimisation of the Impact Tracker (an online dashboard platform used to visualise programme data) ensuring it remains accurate, user-friendly and aligned with organisational needs. Together, these responsibilities contribute to strengthening the organisation's impact, accountability and learning culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Impact Tracker Website and Dashboard Management:

  • Oversee the ongoing functionality, performance and optimisation of the Impact Tracker.
  • Conduct regular QA/QC reviews to ensure data accuracy, visual integrity and dashboard responsiveness.
  • Manage the design and user experience of the platform, ensuring alignment with branding guidelines and stakeholder needs.
  • Collaborate with developers and programme teams to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements and support system updates.
  • Ensure effective documentation of system architecture, workflows and updates to support knowledge continuity and system sustainability.

Strategic MEL Co-ordination:

  • Oversee the design and implementation of monitoring plans for key programmes and initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to programme teams on MEL methodologies and tools.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Lead the collection, cleaning and management of high-quality data from diverse sources.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis using statistical software and data visualisation tools.
  • Generate insightful reports and dashboards to inform decision-making and programme improvement.
  • Undertake regular field visits to verify data accuracy, understand programme context and strengthen data collection processes on the ground.

Knowledge Management and Learning:

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning within the organisation through workshops, training sessions and documentation.
  • Conduct research and literature reviews to identify best practices and emerging trends in MEL.
  • Support the development and implementation of a learning agenda to capture lessons learned and inform future programming.

Partnership and Collaboration:

  • Build strong relationships with programme teams, partners and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and data sharing.
  • Represent the organisation at external meetings and conferences to share knowledge and expertise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Data modelling: Basic understanding of data modelling concepts and techniques, including statistical modelling and data transformation.
  • Data management: Familiarity with data management principles and practices, including data quality management (Google Sheets specifically required).
  • Data visualization: Ability to create basic data visualisations using tools such as PowerBI, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and web-based dashboards.
  • Impact Tracker QA/QC: Experience conducting quality assurance and control checks on web-based dashboards to ensure data accuracy, functionality and alignment with reporting requirements.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey data insights and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-solving: Ability to identify and solve basic data-related problems using analytical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Continuous learning: Willingness to learn new data analysis techniques and tools to stay up to date with basic industry trends.
