Purpose of the role
The Data Centre technician (HVAC) provides a range of services which revolve around day-to-day operations & maintenance of the Data Centre facility, including, but not limited to, equipment and processes, ensuring effective and efficient operation of the Data Centre with a focus on HVAC systems.
You will be the subject matter expert for all HVAC-related matters, ensuring the stable operation of all systems supporting client environments.
Objectives
Main function of the Job
- Monitoring, repair, and maintenance of all critical HVAC infrastructure including but not limited to chillers, dry air coolers, AHU, CRAH, CRAC, fresh air packaged units, and comfort cooling.
- Serving as the HVAC subject matter expert, supporting a team of technicians with varying skills and qualifications.
- Performing and managing planned and preventative maintenance of HVAC infrastructure, either independently or through OEM contractors.
- Fault finding and identification on critical infrastructure, implementing repairs or managing OEM contractors to minimize impact on supported environments and reduce overall return-to-service time.
- Continuous optimization of HVAC equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and ongoing improvement.
- Proactive working methods to ensure all SLA parameters are maintained.
- Monitoring critical environments to ensure maximum uptime, aiming for 99.999% uptime, with swift and efficient issue resolution.
- Switching and isolating HVAC equipment prior to maintenance or repairs.
- Assisting project and consultant teams with installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of new HVAC plant and equipment.
- Conducting daily walk-arounds and inspections of HVAC and supporting infrastructure to minimize unplanned outages and maintain industry-leading standards.
- Wiring and regular inspection of control systems and panels to ensure optimal conditions.
- Providing technical support through control system/network installation, configuration, and troubleshooting to optimize cooling plant performance.
- Continuous monitoring of HVAC and supporting systems within data halls to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation.
Compliance
- Maintaining compliance with all company policies, procedures, legislative requirements, and codes.
- Participating actively with teams to ensure ISO certifications are maintained.
- Ensuring adherence to client SLAs and MSAs.
- Meeting inter-departmental OLAs (Operational Level Agreements).
- Proactive health & safety monitoring and corrective actions to meet statutory compliance and support a zero-tolerance policy towards unsafe work practices.
