Job description

The Data Centre Technician (Electrical Technician) provides a range of services focused on the daily operations and maintenance of the Data Centre facility. This includes managing equipment and processes to ensure effective and efficient operation of the Data Centre.

Objectives

Main functions of the Job

  1. Monitoring and maintaining all Data Centre critical infrastructure (generator, UPS, fire and cooling systems)
  2. Performing planned and preventative maintenance on all infrastructure
  3. Fault detection of critical infrastructure
  4. Switching and isolating MV and LV equipment
  5. Installing and commissioning new plant
  6. Conducting daily walk-arounds and inspections of electrical, mechanical (cooling), and fire systems and equipment
  7. Wiring electrical control panels
  8. Providing technical support by performing system/network installation, configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operations
  9. Monitoring system processes to ensure smooth operation
  10. Evaluating heating and cooling systems to ensure they meet equipment temperature requirements
  11. Ensuring compliance with working methods to meet all client SLAs and MSAs
  12. Monitoring critical environments to ensure uptime and efficient issue resolution
Compliance
  • Maintaining compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative codes
  • Meeting inter-departmental Operational Level Agreements (OLAs)
  • Monitoring health and safety, and taking corrective actions to meet statutory compliance and the company's goal of zero tolerance for unsafe work practices
