Job Responsibilities
- Full installation & decommissioning of communication cables in line with customer requirements (CAT5e, CAT6, and Fibre). This includes installing, testing, labelling new cables, uploading test results, and documenting cable routes within stipulated SLA turnaround times.
- Testing and troubleshooting cabling issues, including CAT6, Singlemode & Multimode fibre cabling, using appropriate testing instruments such as OTDR, Power Meter, Light Source, Copper & Coax testers.
- Basic network understanding and troubleshooting methods, including Loopback testing on copper, fibre, SFPs, etc.
- Configuration, physical installation, firmware updates, and fault finding of Power Distribution Units (In Rack PDU).
- Executing Remote Hands requests on behalf of clients, including rebooting servers, patching, labelling, auditing, and Tape / Media swaps.
- Knowledge of working in the Wireless and PTP space, including media conversion from fibre to copper and vice versa.
- Ensure compliance with working methods to meet all SLA and MSA requirements.
- Maintain high uptime of 99.99% for data cabling infrastructure.
- Run scheduled jobs as instructed by the Infrastructure Supervisor / Data Centre Manager.
- Conduct administrative tasks to ensure efficient and organized data centre operations.
- Carry out work operations efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Liaise with support staff to maximize uptime and deliver high-quality services.
Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Meet inter-departmental Operational Level Agreements (OLAs).
- Monitor Health & Safety and take corrective actions to meet statutory compliance, SLAs, and good business practices.
Critical System Management
- Manage planned and corrective maintenance to ensure customer MSAs and SLAs are achieved.
- Finalize tasks and report accurately, adhering to formats, quality standards, and timelines.
