Data Center NOC Monitoring Engineer

Tangent International is urgently seeking a Data Center NOC Monitoring Engineer for a 3-month rolling contract based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Job Description

1. Experience: 2+ years in NOC operations, data center facility management, or critical infrastructure monitoring. Basic knowledge of electrical systems, generators, UPS, and HVAC in data centers is preferred.
2. Work Schedule: Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
3. Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to remain composed under high-pressure situations.
4. Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting.

Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor real-time performance of data center infrastructure such as power, HVAC, cooling, generators, and fire suppression systems using tools like UFM, BMS, or customized dashboards. Detect and analyze alarms, performance deviations, or potential failures.
2. Incident Management: Act as the first responder to infrastructure alerts, escalate issues to engineers or vendors as needed, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve incidents and minimize downtime.
3. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain logs of incidents, resolutions, and system performance metrics. Generate reports on uptime, incident trends, and infrastructure health.
4. Compliance & Safety: Adhere to industry standards and safety regulations. Participate in audits, risk assessments, and disaster recovery drills.
