Job description

We are seeking an experienced Data Centre NOC Manager to lead the MTN Data Centre Managed Services NOC Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring, maintenance, and operational management of MTN’s data centres, ensuring the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of all critical infrastructure, including network equipment, HVAC systems, UPS, generators, DC plants, and AC systems.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent customer relationship skills to ensure seamless service delivery, efficient incident management, and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Data Centre NOC Management role, focusing on network equipment, power, and cooling systems.
  • Strong understanding of data centre operations, infrastructure monitoring, and incident management.
  • Experience managing UPS, generators, HVAC, and DC power plants.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices for NOC management.
  • Proven track record of handling customer escalations and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with large telecom or managed service providers.

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field (preferred).

Preferred Skills & Certifications :

  • Certifications in Data Centre Management (CDCP, CDCS, or equivalent).
  • ITIL Foundation certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. NOC Operations & Management
  2. Lead and manage the Data Centre NOC team to monitor and maintain all data centre infrastructure.
  3. Ensure 24/7 proactive monitoring of data centre systems, identifying and resolving incidents to minimize downtime.
  4. Develop and implement NOC policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  5. Coordinate troubleshooting and escalation processes to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, maintenance activities, and system performance.
  1. Infrastructure & Technical Oversight
  2. Oversee the health and performance of network equipment, cooling systems (HVAC), power backup systems (UPS, generators, DC plants), and AC units.
  3. Work closely with vendors and service providers to ensure timely maintenance and support.
  4. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate potential failures.
  5. Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
  1. Customer & Stakeholder Management
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for MTN stakeholders regarding data centre operations.
  3. Ensure effective communication with clients regarding incidents, planned maintenance, and system performance.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, vendors, and third-party service providers.
  5. Handle customer escalations and drive service improvement initiatives.
