Placements24 seeks a Data Center Installation Technician to support high‑end facilities in Sandton. This hands‑on role installs servers, network gear, cabling, and PDUs, ensuring precise deployment and readiness of IT infrastructure in a controlled data center environment.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in data center hardware installation, knowledge of server and network components, copper/fiber cabling, and the ability to read rack elevations and diagrams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Center Technician or IT Hardware Installer.
• Strong knowledge of server hardware, network components and data center infrastructure.
• Proficiency in cable management techniques and fiber optic installation.
• Ability to read rack elevations, network diagrams and installation plans.
• Familiarity with data center cooling and power systems is a plus.
• Must be able to lift heavy equipment and work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, rack, and cable servers, network switches, storage devices, and other IT hardware.
• Terminate and test copper and fiber optic cabling according to data center standards.
• Manage power distribution units (PDUs) and ensure proper connectivity and load balancing.
• Perform physical inventory management and asset tagging of installed equipment.
• Troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues within the data center environment.
• Follow strict security and operational procedures to maintain the integrity of the data center.

This is a hands‑on role requiring physical work within a controlled environment.

Key Responsibilities
