Cyber Security Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, lead, and evaluate cybersecurity projects and activities across the Africa region in collaboration with management.
• Respond to high-priority and complex security incidents, working with service providers to troubleshoot and resolve security-related issues.
• Provide expert guidance on the design, implementation, administration, and enforcement of information security controls including network security, intrusion detection, endpoint protection, and identity management.
• Assess risks, design controls to mitigate threats, document control failures, and provide remediation guidance while preparing management reports to track progress.
• Offer technical leadership in implementing security controls and best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity threats, technological advancements, and security tools to enhance incident response capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and security needs to develop and recommend effective solutions for mining operations/sites.
• Oversee and manage service providers and vendors to ensure cybersecurity standards and partnerships are maintained.
• Engage in strategic and tactical planning to coordinate the delivery of cybersecurity products and services.
• Manage and allocate section budgets effectively while ensuring financial accountability and approval of cybersecurity-related expenditures.
• Participate in various meetings, committees, and task forces to communicate updates and opportunities related to cybersecurity.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
• Promote awareness of SHEC practices and embed a safety culture.

Education & Experience required:

• Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in cyber security risk management or IT security.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
• Experience in incident response, risk assessment, and control implementation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple cybersecurity projects and initiatives effectively.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, A+, N+, MCSE, ITIL 4.0, or related industry certifications required.
• Mining industry experience preferred but not required.
