Job Description: Customer Service & Sales Executive

Are you a people-focused problem solver with a passion for science and service? We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our Customer Service team.

The ideal candidate will have a background or experience in the scientific or chemistry field and a passion for providing exceptional support to clients.

This role bridges technical expertise and customer satisfaction, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution of inquiries.

About The Role

As a Customer Service & Sales Executive, you'll be the front line of communication between LGC and our customers — supporting order processing, responding to product inquiries, generating formal quotations, and helping us uphold our reputation for quality and service.

You'll liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure customer expectations are exceeded at every turn.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Handle all communication with internal and external contacts professionally to project LGC's high standards.
  • Respond to customer price requests with formal quotations and follow up within agreed timescales.
  • Manage 'Tender' requests not handled by the Business Development or Sales teams.
  • Accurately enter customer orders into the ERP system on receipt and notify customers upon order release.
  • Provide support and advice regarding orders, ensuring On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery targets are met and informing customers of delays in advance.
  • Improve back-order management and update customers on shipment statuses and product delays.
  • Communicate courteously via telephone, email, and Service Cloud, escalating queries outside your expertise.
  • Manage daily Service Cloud cases, ensuring tasks are completed or escalated within KPI timescales.
  • Log customer complaints in the system, maintain KPI reporting, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with field sales personnel to keep them informed of customer matters and provide feedback.
  • Ensure customer expectations are exceeded against response KPIs.
  • Learn about LGC Standards products and services and stay updated on changes.
Qualifications

We're seeking an enthusiastic, driven individual with a background in chemistry or a scientific field and a passion for customer service.

Key skills & experience include:

  • Previous experience in sales support or customer service.
  • Experience with quotations, order entry, and ERP/CRM systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong IT skills: MS Office, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, SAGE, or Pastel.
  • Experience with Service Cloud or similar CRM tools.
  • A chemistry degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.

Essential requirements include:

  • Valid Driver's License and own transport.
  • High school diploma.
  • Valid passport (for occasional travel).
