Graphic Designer & Sales Coordinator
Location: Pretoria
Position: Full-time, on-site
VanH designs and manufactures custom cycling and sportswear at our factory in Pretoria. We are looking for a creative, organised and customer-focused person who can help customers turn their ideas into finished kit.
This is not a traditional graphic design position where you work only behind a computer. You will work directly with customers, help them choose the right garments, create their custom designs and coordinate their orders from the first enquiry until the order is ready for production. You will also be based in our retail shop and assist walk-in customers with selecting and fitting VanH cycling and running products.
What you will do
Custom sales and customer service
- Respond to new custom-kit enquiries by email, telephone, WhatsApp and in person.
- Discuss the customer’s requirements, intended use, budget, quantities and deadlines.
- Explain VanH's different garment options, fabrics, features, fits and pricing.
- Help customers choose the most suitable products for their club, company, school, event or team.
- Prepare quotations and follow up with customers.
- Build good customer relationships and guide customers confidently through the ordering process.
Custom kit design
- Turn customer ideas, logos and brand guidelines into attractive cycling and sportswear designs.
- Create designs using VanH's garment templates.
- Prepare design presentations and mock-ups for customers.
- Make requested design changes accurately and efficiently.
- Check logos, colours, spelling, sponsor placement and other details before approval.
- Obtain written design approval before the order moves into production.
- Prepare accurate, print-ready artwork and production files.
Order coordination
- Manage each custom order from enquiry through to production handover.
- Collect and check order quantities, sizes, names, special requirements and delivery information.
- Ensure that quotations, deposits, artwork approvals and sizing information are received on time.
- Capture and update customer and order information accurately in VanH's systems.
- Keep customers informed about the progress of their orders.
- Communicate clearly with the factory, printing and production teams.
- Identify missing information or possible delays before they become problems.
- Ensure that the final order handed to production is complete and correct.
Retail shop support
- Welcome and assist customers visiting the VanH shop.
- Help customers choose the correct cycling and running garments.
- Advise customers on product features, sizing and fit.
- Process retail sales and assist with general shop duties.
- Help keep the shop welcoming, organised and well presented.
- Provide the same friendly and knowledgeable service to both retail and custom customers.
The person we are looking for
You will suit this position if you enjoy both creative work and working with people. You should be
comfortable moving between designing, speaking to customers, following up on sales and checking
detailed order information.
You should be:
- Friendly, confident and comfortable speaking to different types of customers.
- Creative, with a good eye for colour, balance and layout.
- Patient and able to interpret customer ideas, even when the customer is not sure what they wants.
- Sales-minded and willing to follow up rather than waiting for customers to respond.
- Highly organised and able to manage several orders at different stages.
- Accurate and attentive to small details.
- Comfortable working with deadlines in a busy environment.
- Able to take ownership of an order and see it through from beginning to end.
- A good team player who communicates clearly with customers and colleagues.
- Interested in cycling, running or sportswear.
Skills and experience
- Graphic design qualification or relevant practical experience.
- Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience preparing artwork for print or production would be advantageous.
- Experience in customer service, retail sales, account management or sales coordination.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Afrikaans or another South African language would be advantageous.
- Good computer and administrative skills.
- Experience in clothing, sublimation printing, sportswear or promotional products would be
an advantage, but training will be provided.
Application requirements
- Your CV.
- A short introduction explaining why this combination of design, sales and customer service
appeals to you.
- A portfolio containing examples of your graphic design work.
- Your current or most recent salary and your salary expectation.
- Your availability or required notice period.
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to complete a practical design and customer-service assessment.
